Ranking Poppi Soda Flavors

Ranking Poppi Soda Flavors

Listen up corporate girlies, I’ve found the perfect way to freshen up 9 to 5 life. This summer, I went looking for a weekly treat to add a pop of summer flair into my repetitive internship schedule. I set out to try every one of Poppi’s viral prebiotic soda flavors, choosing one flavor to enjoy each week. Since I cut out caffeine at the beginning of the year, I have been disappointed by the available soda options. But Poppi’s diverse selection leaves no taste bud unturned. See below to find out which flavors you should sip and which flavors you can skip.

RASPBERRY ROSE: Raspberry Rose really is that girl; sweet, soft, yet tangy raspberry swirls with mature and subtle rose. Playful yet sophisticated, Raspberry Rose makes me feel like I have my life together. This is such a fun flavor I think more soda companies should incorporate. Normally soda companies just make their own versions of sodas that already exist or just carbonate fruit juice and call it a day, but I think Raspberry Rose should be the new Coca Cola. This is the only flavor that I actively buy to enjoy again and again.

WATERMELON: THE drink of the summer; Watermelon comes out on top! This flavor blew me away, you can tell it’s made with real watermelon juice and the flavor comes out bold. It’s sweet, but not too sweet, perfect for a hot summer day. Watermelon can definitely hold its own, but I can totally imagine the fun cocktails and mocktails it can contribute to!

CHERRY LIMEADE: Cherry Limeade was Poppi Perfection! Sweet, tart, and refreshing, it’s the perfect summer drink. It reminds me of a melted slushie or a snow-cone. I think it would be excellent in a frozen drink or a Shirley Temple. Maybe a frozen Shirley Temple!

ORANGE: To be honest, I can’t claim to normally be a huge fan of orange soda but Poppi’s Orange flavor was delightfully light and refreshing. I was expecting an overpowering Fanta taste, but it is more reminiscent of Orangina. Very fun and was gone in seconds!

DOC POP: Biggest fan of Dr. Pepper here! This was the first Poppi I ever tried because of my love for the popular (albeit, not-as-healthy) original soda. Still refreshing and not too sweet, Poppi’s version is a great alternative but I can’t say it’s a viable replacement. Be sure to refrigerate before drinking to enjoy Doc Pop to its fullest extent!

This is also the only comparable flavor of Poppi’s main competitor, Oli-Pop, which I have tried. While Poppi definitely won that competition, nothing beats the original Dr. Pepper.

STRAWBERRY LEMON: A lover of all things sour, I was disappointed by the overpowering lemon flavor in this drink. I honestly thought this flavor would be much higher on this list, but the strawberry comes through as more essence than flavor. Since the name “Strawberry-Lemon” is a bit of a stretch, if this was simply labeled as “Lemonade,” I would be much more inclined to give it another try.

GRAPE: I’m also not a huge fan of Grape soda in general either, but this Grape soda wasn’t too sweet and I definitely enjoyed. I can say it pairs very nicely with a PB&J sandwich and makes for a cute lunch time treat.

CLASSIC COLA: Poppi promotes gut health, utilizing apple cider vinegar for its prebiotic benefits. This Classic Cola flavor tastes more like a sparkling apple cider vinegar soda than actual Coca-Cola. While Poppi’s version of a Coke, Classic Cola, is a classic choice of beverage in its own right, it doesn’t quite live up to the soda which it is attempting to emulate.

GINGER LIME: To be perfectly fair, I am not a fan of ginger to begin with. I was really hoping to be proven wrong when I tried Poppi’s Ginger Lime flavor, but I am sticking with my beliefs. I do think the Ginger Lime flavor would be really good as the base for a margarita, but alas I am also not a fan of tequila. I’m sure this drink is making some other drinker very happy but I unfortunately, am not that drinker.

ROOT BEER: And at the bottom of the barrel, Root Beer. The Root Beer Poppi tastes like it came from the bottom of the barrel pictured on the front of its can. It tastes like literal rainwater mixed with dirt. I understand that after I gave this review, they’ve updated the recipe for Root Beer, but I’m not sure I would even try it that’s how bad this one is. 0/10 would not drink again.
